What is From Europe With Love?

'From Europe With Love' is a regular, free look around the non English language-speaking countries of Europe, with the accent on picking up developments which may be of interest to people working in the sphere of advertising and marketing. These developments may be directly related to their profession, or they may come from elsewhere yet still be of interest to advertising and marketing professionals who like to maintain an awareness of what is going on, in countries other than their own.

How does it do this?

From Europe With Love combines the approach of a news monitoring agency with that of a professional translation, adaptation and writing/rewriting agency. It looks regularly at a core number of titles, more occasionally at a wider range of publications in the countries featured on the site and all stories were originally published in a language other than English.

Why doesn't From Europe With Love cover stories from the UK or other countries?

These are already available, in English, on sites such as www.mad.co.uk, www.brandrepublic.com and www.mandmeurope.com. Advertising Age Global and Strategies Europe would also be in this list, but they unfortunately no longer offer international news. From Europe With Love recommends those sites that still exist to people who want to get a more complete picture of developments in advertising and marketing in Europe. From Europe With Love concentrates on 'continental' Europe, applying language and translation skills to make stories from there accessible to English speakers.

Who actually puts the site together?

From Europe With Love is written by Edwin Turnill. Based in London, Edwin's experience includes over a decade working internationally within one of the world's top 10 advertising agency networks. He currently works as a freelance copywriter, adapter, translator and researcher and will be happy to hear from - and work with - you if you see something here which interests you, which could help solve a problem or which suggests to you that you could be doing something in the future that you currently don't do.
